Where to Eat in St Davids: Our Favourite Cafés, Coffee Shops & Afternoon Tea
One of the things our guests love most about staying in St Davids is that once you’ve parked the car, you can leave it behind and explore Britain’s smallest city on foot. Whether you’re looking for the perfect flat white, a leisurely brunch or an indulgent afternoon tea, you’ll find an excellent choice of independent cafés just a short stroll away.
These are a few of our favourite places to recommend to guests staying at Ramsey House.
Porthclais Kiosk – Coffee with a Coastal View

If you’re looking for somewhere a little different, make the short walk or drive to Porthclais Harbour. Tucked beside the water, Porthclais Kiosk is one of those places that feels like a real hidden gem.
It’s the perfect stop after a coastal walk or, for the adventurous, a refreshing swim in the harbour. Their excellent coffee, delicious ice creams and freshly prepared light bites make it a wonderful place to sit and soak up the atmosphere.
If you’re lucky, you’ll also meet one of the harbour’s best-known regulars – the friendly robin who often pops by hoping for a crumb or two!
As it’s a seasonal business, it’s always worth checking opening times before you visit.
Minnow Café – Creative Food with a Warm Welcome
Right in the heart of St Davids, Minnow Café has quickly become one of our favourite recommendations.
Their beautifully made craft coffees are worth the visit alone, but the imaginative menu of sourdough toast, colourful breakfasts and fresh lunches keeps people coming back. The homemade cakes and sweet treats are equally tempting if you’re simply stopping for coffee during an afternoon stroll.
On sunny days, grab one of the pavement tables, relax with your coffee and watch the world go by. It’s a lovely spot to experience the easy-going atmosphere that makes St Davids so special.
The Mill Café – Breakfast, Brunch and More
Whether you’re an early riser looking for a hearty breakfast or fancy a relaxed brunch after exploring the city, The Mill Café is always a popular choice.
Open throughout the day, it serves generous breakfasts, brunch favourites and lunches in a welcoming setting. During busy periods, especially in the summer holidays, we’d recommend booking ahead if possible.
Keep an eye on their seasonal events too, as they occasionally open in the evenings and are well known locally for their popular Sunday lunches.
Afternoon Tea at Twr y Felin
Sometimes a special occasion deserves something a little more indulgent.
If you’re celebrating a birthday, anniversary or simply treating yourself, afternoon tea at Twr y Felin is a wonderful experience. Beautifully presented sandwiches, delicate cakes, freshly baked treats and the option of adding a glass of bubbly make it a memorable way to spend an afternoon.
The elegant surroundings add to the occasion, making this one of our favourite recommendations for guests looking to celebrate during their stay.
Drifter Café – A New Favourite
One of the newest additions to St Davids’ café scene, Drifter Café has already built a loyal following.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with friendly service and a tempting selection of homemade sweet treats alongside excellent coffee.
During the warmer months, our favourite place to sit is by the large front window, which is opened wide onto the street. It’s the perfect spot for people watching while enjoying coffee and cake as St Davids gently goes about its day.
Coffee on the Go
Not every coffee stop has to involve sitting inside.
If you’re heading out to explore the coast or simply fancy something to enjoy as you wander, West Point Trading is ideal for grabbing a takeaway coffee and one of their delicious sticky cakes.
Take your treats across to Cross Square, find a bench and enjoy a few peaceful moments watching life unfold in the centre of Britain’s smallest city.
Our Tip…
One of the greatest pleasures of staying in St Davids is that everything is so wonderfully close together. You can enjoy breakfast, browse independent shops, visit the Cathedral, stop for coffee, wander down to the coast and finish the day with dinner – all without needing to drive.
It’s one of the reasons so many of our guests tell us they arrive intending to stay for just one night and leave wishing they’d booked longer.
