St Davids Cathedral – A Different Perspective
Many visitors spend time exploring the Cathedral during the day, but far fewer experience it as evening falls.
One of our favourite places is the bench above Porth y Tŵr (the Bell Tower). From here, the Cathedral sits quietly in the valley below, surrounded by ancient stone walls and mature trees. As the sun begins to set, the warm light catches the stonework, creating a wonderfully peaceful and atmospheric scene.
The Cathedral bells drifting across the valley only add to the experience.
If you’re looking for somewhere to pause and simply appreciate the beauty of St Davids, this is difficult to beat.
Caerfai Bay – Where the Cliffs Glow
If we had to choose a coastal favourite, Caerfai Bay would be high on the list.
Its distinctive red sandstone cliffs seem to come alive in the evening light, glowing with rich oranges and deep reds as the sun sinks lower in the sky. Combined with the sound of the waves below, it’s one of Pembrokeshire’s most memorable places to watch the day come to an end.
Bring a camera—or simply sit back and enjoy the view.
Whitesands Bay – Endless Horizons
Whitesands is one of Pembrokeshire’s best-loved beaches, and for good reason.
As evening approaches, many day visitors head home, leaving behind a quieter, more peaceful beach. The vast stretch of sand reflects the changing colours of the sky, while Ramsey Island forms a striking silhouette offshore.
A gentle walk along the shoreline as the sun sets is the perfect way to round off the day.
St Non’s Chapel – History, Coastline and Quiet Reflection
The walk to St Non’s Chapel is beautiful at any time, but there’s something especially calming about visiting in the evening.
Perched above the cliffs with sweeping views across St Bride’s Bay, it’s a place where history, nature and the sea come together. As daylight fades, the peaceful surroundings make it an ideal spot to sit quietly and watch the colours change across the horizon.
Porthclais Harbour – A Hidden Evening Escape
Porthclais Harbour has a very different feel as the day draws to a close.
The boats rest gently on the water, seabirds settle for the evening and the harbour becomes wonderfully tranquil. The reflections on the sheltered inlet can be stunning on calm evenings, making it a lovely place to linger before heading back into St Davids.
If the kiosk is still open, an ice cream or coffee makes the experience even better.
Carn Llidi – Sunset from Above
For those who enjoy a little adventure, Carn Llidi offers some of the finest panoramic views in the area.
Watching the sun slowly sink towards the Atlantic from this elevated viewpoint is a truly unforgettable experience. On clear evenings, the changing light stretches across the coastline as far as the eye can see.
If you’re planning this walk, allow enough time to return safely before darkness falls and wear suitable footwear.
