We understand that everyone also has their own subjective opinion about the virus. But we have to continue to take the risk very seriously. Accommodation establishments remain a high risk environment simply because we welcome customers from a wide variety of places.
The data on coronavirus infections in our region and our population do not accurately represent the level of risk of B&Bs and hotels.
The slightest relaxation of our protocols on your part or on our part could lead to the closure of our business, the cancellation of vacation plans for our future customers and of course, our health. This is a scenario that we will do everything we can to avoid.
We plan to continue running our B&B in the same way as we have been during the pandemic for this current 2021 season (despite any recent U.K. or Wales Government changes) in order to keep our guests, our business, and our families as safe as we can.
Bookings made during the pandemic period will remain fully flexible on both sides to cancellation until 30 days before your arrival, and any booking you make is entirely at your own risk in this respect. In addition if our area (or your local area) is newly closed by the U.K., Welsh or Local Government due to Covid-19, your booking will not be chargeable. This flexibility allows both our guests and ourselves to be adaptable should the situation change in any way.
Regarding bookings for the future, we will be reverting back to our regular cancellation conditions at some point once the pandemic is behind us. This is likely for 2022 bookings. However if you are booked in the future under the current booking terms, we will contact you to notify you of any changes which may be applicable at that time, and to see if you are happy to keep your booking with us.
In addition, please also be aware that Welsh rules on Covid can be very different to England’s rules and announcements. We advise checking the Welsh Government website at https://gov.wales/coronavirus for the latest advice – in particular on the dates for releasing or reimposing any lockdown measures.
Advance Check In
We continue to be reaching out to guests prior to their arrival to discuss the following:
- Room keys
- Local area information, things to do, places to eat, etc
- Your virtual Guest Information Folder
- Any questions you may have
We have installed several hand sanitiser dispensers in the hallway so that guests can sanitise their hands on entering Ramsey House, and also before entering the breakfast room and lounge.
Guests will be requested to maintain social distancing, and to keep a safe distance away from those who aren’t in their booking party. Ramsey House is a house and also our home, and space will need to be respected and considered by all guests.
It is currently still advised in Wales to wear a face mask in public spaces including shops, public transport, and public areas in B&B’s and hotels:
- If your business is multi-purpose, with food & drink one of the many reasons for a visit (e.g. a hotel with a restaurant), face coverings must still be worn by staff and customers in all areas of the business apart from the specific areas where food & drink are consumed.
Therefore we will continue to personally wear masks in public areas and during breakfast service, and kindly require our guests to do so too, except when in your room or sat at a breakfast table.
Local Area and Community
St Davids has had fairly low incidences of the virus, and many people in the community will be cautious at the prospect of visitors returning again. When you’re out and about we would kindly ask you to follow the usual rules of social distancing, hand-washing regularly or using sanitiser, and respect other people in the area. But we are a friendly bunch in St Davids, and a smile or hello from across the road is always welcomed!
We will be serving breakfast to a maximum of four tables to allow for adequate space in between guests for social distancing. We have individual room tables – not a communal single table at breakfast, and your table remains yours only for the duration of your stay with us.
Our breakfast menu will be available to view through a virtual Guest Information folder which will be sent to you prior to your stay for hygiene reasons, along with a daily online link via WhatsApp or text to easily order from.
We will be requesting you kindly place a pre-order via the provided online form each evening before, in order to enable a smooth service with minimum contact between tables. This is a temporary measure until further notice. Although we are pausing our self service buffet until further notice, all of these items will still be here to order.
However, if you would prefer to have breakfast away from other guests we can offer a room only reduced tariff (email for this option ahead of booking), or we can offer a continental breakfast option for your room. We can also replace breakfast with a packed lunch instead if you wish, or a lovely hot bacon baguette to go! All of these can be done on request.
We will be closing the lounge area at 9.30pm in order to clean and prepare the room ready for breakfast service the following morning.
Our regular daily in-room housekeeping service is temporarily suspended to avoid close contact between different groups of guests, but we have facilities in place to ensure our guests still have access to fresh towels, extra tea tray items, toiletries etc.
Decorative bed cushions will be more basic than usual, and rotated for cleaning. Each bed will always offer freshly and hygienically cleaned linen. But if guests prefer to bring their own pillows, we won’t be offended!
We will be operating on reduced availability until further notice to enable us to rotate rooms in between bookings, and reduce the number of different groups of people in the house.
Guests who have been diagnosed with, show symptoms, or who have been in contact with someone showing signs of Covid-19 in the last 14 days will be asked to kindly reschedule their stay. Anyone who shows symptoms during their stay will be asked to leave, for the safety of other guests and ourselves.
St Davids Pharmacy
As St Davids Pharmacy is small and community based, we would request you check and make sure you have all your medications, sun creams and other toiletry items with you when you arrive to avoid putting stress on this service. Thank you.
For those who’ve had the vaccinations, we are really happy you’ve got that extra reassurance and safety. However this doesn’t benefit everyone else necessarily. When staying with us please continue to follow the Covid rules you have been following throughout – wash your hands carefully and regularly, always wear a mask in public areas, and keep your distance from other people. You can still spread the virus when you’ve been vaccinated, so visiting other places while on holiday potentially causes a risk to others who’ve not yet been vaccinated, which includes other guests and our own children. We thank you for continuing to do this to keep everyone safe.
Enhanced Cleaning Schedule
A thorough and deep clean following current industry guidelines will be carried out after a guest has checked out.
In addition to our already high standards of hygiene, we will be cleaning more frequently in high traffic areas and touch points, such as the reception area, staircase, door handles, etc.
Any outstanding balances will be taken automatically during your stay, using the card you provided on booking, and an electronic receipt sent to you. Guests can provide an alternative card or payment provision during the pre-arrival process if needed.
On departure, guests will be asked to leave their keys in the room when checking out.
Please kindly vacate your room by 10.30am.
